WHAT YOU GO FOR
gorgeous pebble beaches of the Adriatic sea, amazing food
WHAT YOU ALSO GET
a fair amount of "eurotrash" and 18 year old kids on their gap year
croatia is a summer hot spot for all of Europe and outsiders alike, its also quite a small country- the high season is absolutely absurd. two days into my trip I knew It wasn't going to work out and literally just got drunk everyday, met people, and waited for my flight out of there. the beaches are the farthest from serene, even in remote areas (where I was staying) you were sharing the water with dozens of people (loads being children). next time I visit croatia it'll be when I rent out a big house with a private beach with a bunch of babes on a remote location of one of the islands, lets just put it that way.
loads of fresh fish with a cuisine very similar to Italian
ONE THING TO EAT
that one fast food sandwich
FOR CREATIVE SPIRITS
I stayed in split but to be honest I would head to Dubrovnik next time for the upmost Romanesque vibes
any gardens or outside city, Croatias terrain is really strange, creepy, beautiful all at the same time. its definitely one of a kind.
FOR DIGITAL NOMADS
Croatia is where I lost my mind work wise and I cannot suggest using it as a base. cafes are not appropriate to work in and the cowering spaces are in awkward/ far away/ you just don't want to be there kind of places.
all the national parks, some of the best in the world
drinking in public is legal, so grab a few beers and watch the sunset at one of the piers.
MUST & MUST NOTS
do not not not visit during the high season, its not even enjoyable
b line to the islands, the mainlands beaches are gorgeous but have an absurd highway down the enter coastline that shits on the whole experience!
the railroad down the coastline is absolutely insane
