mandalay, bagan & inle lake
boat to hot air ballon ride
ultimate Southeast Asia kind of travel vibes
WHAT YOU GO FOR
temple hopping, getting lost on motorbikes in untouched lands
WHAT YOU ALSO GET
a large reality check of your privilege, likely followed by anger
myanmar is a complicated place to visit, its been government run since ____- flat out, the burmese are some of the most oppressed people on earth. you're going to have some uncomfortable feelings while there, remember that volunteering is always an option as to how to spend your day.
myanmar is a great place to begin your Southeast Asia travels in my opinion in that its one of the ultimate adventures- very much untouched with gorgeous lands. its also next level in regards to the kick in the ass you need as a westerner but not an overwhelming place in sheer personality
ONE THING TO EAT
tea leaf salads everyday.
FOR CREATIVE SPIRITS
isn't really one, but if you want to stay outside the city but still be inspired by the architecture i would look into staying vinohrady or in between vinohrady and vrsovice.
wallenstein palace gardens & the dripstone wall
FOR DIGITAL NOMADS
Working from Myanmar is quite difficult if you relay on a strong internet connection- I would plan your projects around your visit but if you find yourself having to meet a deadline check out a proper nice hotel in the area (may cost you a bit but theres really no other option.)
just go get lost temple hopping in Bagan and you'll be okay
not the place for drinking (never thought that would leave my mouth)
MUST & MUST NOTS
wake up early, climb up a temple, and watch the hot air balloons float right overhead
take a boat in the dead of night in Inle Lake to see stars you couldn't even imagine
read some George Orwell, "1984" or "burmese days"
read up on "responsible spending" when visiting a government run country
tinder game: yeah no not the place
